So, the hydraulic jacks don't really eliminate all of the rocking. I thought I didn't really mind it until I started working night shift for this assignment but the only time it really bothers me is when I'm trying to fall asleep. Other than that, I find that I don't even notice it. However, when we were in KS and parked broadside to the wind, we definitely noticed when it was windy outside. The leveling is definitely an much bigger deal. We have spent a couple of nights at rest areas while traveling and when the bed is not level it makes a difference in the quality of sleep. With the orientation of our bed, the head to toe level is what is out of kilter. The side to side is usually not a problem.

Thanks for your information I too am in the process of building out a lovely 1993 TC2000 FE 40 foot. I am taking some detailed notes on my build out so it might help out others too. Photos as well. I do not have a web site yet but will one day. I named her GuCo because of all the Gum and Coke spills I had to clean out of her lol Nothing like a bluebird bus project. I chased her all over the US until she landed in my back yard in Avon Park Fl. and picked her up. Looking for paint ideas as it is still yellow and black and in order to drive it I have to paint it.

Keep up the great work!!

Chris, I haven't yet installed the battery cutoff switch(es). I bought several, intending mainly to use them on the house batteries. I can't think of any reason I shouldn't put one downstream of the charger on the starting battery, too, though. Good idea, and thank you!

I'll hold off on that until I get the bus back from repair. I don't want to frustrate Neighbor Dan with an extra complication while he's working on it.

Great idea! Do you have a battery cutoff switch to keep the parasitic drain away?

Don't know if you're still working on this project, but I am using a retired school bus to transport pets to spay-neuter surgery (Photos on website)
I found out that there is what's called a "vandal lock" that secures the front doors without motors or removing the original mechanism. It locks the doors and has a bar that attaches to the regular door opener. A company called TAC Bus Parts in Ohio sells them (about $50), if you have a Thomas or Bluebird. Unfortunately, I have a Carpenter, and I found your site while searching for someone who might know how to get one for my bus... Good luck on your project.
